Monsoon finally kicked in Mumbai, and it was time for some creatures to come out of hole, these creatures are known as Trekkers.Trekking is one of the ways to enjoy in rainy season and now-a-days it has become quiet a trend to go for treks.

So, i thought of writing about experience of Mordhan, one of the trek spots any one can visit. MORDHAN is also known as Mora cha Dongar (meaning ‘Mountain of peacocks’) lies in the Igatpuri region of the Sahyadris.

Trek Spot: Mordhan Fort
Height : 3400 ft Approx
Grade:Medium
District: Nashik (Kasara-Igatpuri)

HISTORY

All these Forts have history, about mordhan localites say Gods used to reside on the terrain of Second Mountain of Mordhan Fort. Also Pandavas during Mahabharata Yug were supposed to build a cave(Pandav Leni) and temple there in one night on mountain terrain but were unable to do and currently it is located in Gomai River around 6 kilometers north of Shahada, Unfortunately that night the hen clucked at 3.00 am. Clucking of a hen is normally the indication of daybreak. Hence the Pandavas made a move from Mordhan before the daybreak. They further marched towards Nashik and created the Pandavleni there. Some of the remants are still present on the terrain of Mordhan Fort. People who have already visited the Pandavleni in Nashik can easily make out the similarity.
